95 Eagles Earn NAC Scholar-Athlete Honors

MADISON, Wis. - Nearly 50 percent of all Edgewood College student-athletes earned a grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the 2007-08 academic year. For their efforts the Northern Athletics Conference has named 95 Eagles NAC Scholar-Athletes. Cumulatively, Eagle athletes recorded a 3.13 grade point average as 12 of the 14 varsity teams had GPAs higher than 3.00.

The women's tennis team, coached by Rob Barber, had the highest percentage of student-athletes on the NAC Scholar-Athlete list with nine of 10 players reaching the mark. Barber's team also had the highest team grade point average at 3.56. The men's golf team led both of those categories among men's teams. Head Coach Gary Oftedahl's squad placed 10 of their 16 golfers on the list, and had a cumulative grade point average of 3.27.

The men's and women's soccer teams, both coached by Tim Alexander, were the most represented squads, with the men's team boasting 19 and the women's team 13 student-athletes above a 3.25 grade point average.
