MADISON, Wis. (May 10, 2008) – It was the closest thing the team has had to a home meet as select individuals from the Edgewood College track team competed at the Wisconsin Twilight Meet in Madison at the Dan McClimon Memorial Track just a few miles away from campus.
Adam Brown set school records in the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash while
Andrew Garvey rebroke his school record in the 1,500 meter run.
Adam Brown finished sixth in the 400 meter dash, winning his heat with a time of 51.53. His time breaks the old school record in the 400 set in 2007 by Tony Summers at the NAC Championships. Brown finished second among Division III competitors in the event behind MSOE’s Brian Seniuk. Brown followed up his performance in the 400 by breaking his own school record later in the meet in the 200 meter dash. Brown finished 10th overall in the 200, running a time of 23.50. His time is three-tenths of a second faster than his old mark set last weekend at the conference meet.
In the 1,500 meter run, Andrew Garvey continued to lower his school record time finishing 13th overall in the event. Garvey ran a 4:12.51, one second faster than his previous school record time set last weekend at the conference meet where he placed third. Garvey finished third among Division III competitors at the meet, behind potential National Meet qualifier Matt Kramer of UW-Superior and conference rival Dominic Maio of MSOE.
No scores were kept at the meet that featured several Wisconsin schools along with Division I programs Wisconsin, Marquette, Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois.
Brown and Garvey were the only Eagles competing at the Twilight as the remainder of the team ended their season last weekend at the Northern Athletics Conference Championship where the team finished ninth. The meet concludes the Eagles third ever track season, a year that saw nine records fall in the outdoor season, including most points scored at a meet with 19.
