MADISON, Wis. (May 15, 2008) - Edgewood College women’s basketball standout Megan Scheele will leave Friday with USA Athletes International on a nine-day, four-game tour of England, France, Belgium and Amsterdam. This will be Scheele’s second international basketball trip as she participated on a similar USA Athletes International tour to Australia last summer.
Scheele will arrive in London and meet her teammates and the team’s coach, Jennifer Nance of Mars Hill College. The team will play games in London, Paris, Bruges and Amsterdam. While on the trip, the team will visit many of the continent’s best sites including the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles and the Anne Frank House.
Scheele turned in Edgewood College’s greatest individual performance in history last season, breaking the school record for points and rebounds in a single season. She is currently second on the all-time scoring list, needing just 311 points to become the Eagles’ all-time leading scorer. The Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year was named a fourth team All-American and a second team Academic All-American.
